All my life I have known that I was destined to work in mental health, however I knew that the only way I could add any meaningful value, was to have a lot of life experience of my own to draw upon. So I spent a large part of my younger years focused on gaining as many life-building experiences as possible.
Of course some were incredibly enjoyable, some were really challenging and some were just unpleasant, but as the dust settled on each experience, I learned something new about myself, about people and about the world around me.
My explorations took me overseas, living and working in the UK, the USA, Switzerland and South Africa (my home). Work has been a great teacher too, with jobs varying from bar maid to marketing manager. In 2010 I birthed my own business, which brought with it an entire universe of new learning, as did the selling of it 8 years later.
My heart has been broken, mended and broken again more times than I can remember; by intimate partners, by friends, by family and probably most profoundly, by myself. Relationships in all its forms fascinate me to this day!
Coaching is the way I choose to consolidate my innate skills and my experiences. I’m dedicated to partnering with clients to create growth, momentum and happiness in their lives, in whatever form this may take.
Typical coaching topics:
- Considering a career change
- Starting your own business
- Feeling stuck in your relationship or life in general
- Struggling to make a decision or to see a clear way forward
As human beings, we can sometimes come up against things which make us feel stuck, with no clear path forward. Coaching is a wonderful way to get clarity on exactly what it is that you want, and it helps to define the 'what next...'.
My approach to coaching is to not dwell too much on the past, but to rather focus on where you are right now, and then get clear on where you want to go. My coaching style is informed by my own life experience, formal training at the College of Applied Psychology and many courses and workshops which I’ve attended over the years.
I’m also an ICF (International Coaching Federation) member which means I’m held to specific standards and ethics in the coaching industry.
