Stretch your giving muscles!
2
One of my most loved practices in Zen is the practice of 'generosity'. I wanted to share this outside of that community.
After talks or working with a Teacher (any Teacher), we are frequently invited to give. This giving is not in 'exchange' but rather as a teaching about how and where we get 'tight' and hold back our love-energy. This is explicitly not "I got something & so I give you something" but rather: "I would like more of X to happen in the world."
To be clear (& to address any thought that any one is getting 'rich' off the back of poor beleaguered practitioners), the teacher & the space do appreciate donations, but we frequently emphasize, "if you don't give here, give somewhere." This could be your somewhere.
In the material world this can show up as government-related currency. So, here, I am asking for your simbi for 'no good reason'. I'm asking you to give what you have because the mere act of giving, & giving beyond the level of comfort is it's own practice.
Consider as you read this. Do you encounter thoughts of "deserving"? As in 'she doesn't deserve my simbi, what has she done for me!?'
Are you motivated to only give if you deem their ask worthy?
Do you question how people will spend or honor what you offer?
Do you wonder if you are feeding someone else's greed?
What comes up for you in reading this request?
How do you determine IF you will give & how much?
I'd love to hear your thought process if you care to share (even if you choose not to give anything).
Training & Qualifications
I have a years-long practice of giving. I find the practice of asking & receiving much more challenging than the reverse.
So here I am, happy to receive, stretching to be willing to receive completely unconditional generosity.
I am also experimenting with making proposals to people where I offer nothing, working with what it is to ask when I have no reason to anticipate or expect that they would say 'yes' to me.
Availability & Preferences
I am available to receive your gifts 24-7 (it might take me a bit to get back to your offer though, I sometimes take stone-cold digital fasts)
