I will intervene as a seasoned practitioner, and result-oriented Development Economist and strategist, a Program & Operations Manager and a Coordinator with more than thirty (30) years of practical field experience as a coach, mentor in International NGOs, managing development programs with cross-cutting issues such as Development and Advancement of vulnerable groups, Household Economic Security, Families and Communities, Health, Education, WatSan, Sponsorship, Rights and Protection of Children. And carrying out research, (including baseline surveys, emergencies, needs assessments, participatory mid, final and impact evaluations) and organization development and management trainings, designing and carrying out programs in Shelter & Rehabilitation, Recovery, through collaboration with various partners and stakeholders in 22 countries in the 4 Sub-Saharan African Regions (West, Central, East and South) in addition to working experience in countries in Europe, America and Asia.
Training & Qualifications
I am a Development Economist, leveraging 35 years of substantial experience in development work with National and International Organizations in 40 countries worldwide including 24 across Africa, with high level professionalism and polyvalent expertise in various sectors and programs. Educated to a Ph.D. in Development Economics, I leverage 34 years of substantial experience in development work with National and International Organizations in 40 countries including 24 in Africa, with high level professionalism and polyvalent expertise in various sectors and programs. I demonstrate extensive knowledge and deep understanding of development and display mastery of concepts with best practices in socioeconomic development with cross-cutting issues in programming, i.e. Gender, Children Development & Protection, Orphans & Vulnerable Groups (OVG), Diversity, Age, Human Rights, HIV/AIDS, and natural and man-made disaster. I worked with 5 Humanitarian Development Organizations in diverse roles including Programme Support Manager, Country Director, Regional Operations Coordinator and Regional Program Manager, including 10 years with Plan International, a Child Centered Community based Organization focusing on Health, WASH, Education and Protection.
I demonstrate bold leadership, strategic guidance, management oversight capacity, people management, nurturing accurate reporting with accountability towards high performance through effective team work.
Lecturing Economics & Research Methodology, I acquired strong skills and competencies in M&E by leading or participating in over 15 evaluation exercises and acquired M&E Professional Expertise.
Through a 34 year-international exposure I developed high level sensitivity to differences in gender, religion, culture, geography and age.
Being an outgoing, compelling communicator with strong interpersonal & relation-building skills to multiple audiences partnering with Government bodies, national & international organizations, civil societies & community based-organizations, I use strong facilitation and negotiation skills to address third parties learly, respectfully and persuasively, to understand procedures, interpret or translate complex documents, and synthesize them concisely and understandably for staff, stakeholders and partners for useful purposes.
Availability & Preferences
As a Consultant, I am usually free after completing a specific assignment. I am flexible and can make myself available upon on arrangement with potential employers or organizations based on specific contracts.
