Self-defense training.

Worried about what to do if someone corners you?
Not sure how to deal with intimidating behaviour?
Someone getting too grabby and you need to make it stop, right now?
Don't know what to do if someone grabs you from behind?
Uncertain of when you can defend yourself if you feel uncomfortable?
Online sessions (grab a partner to do this with you!) - I will walk you through the use-of-force continuum, a system in use by most police departments in Canada and the United States to determine how to appropriately respond to threats, as well as de-escalation techniques. I will also teach you about aggression cues - physical traits that will signal that someone is about to hurt you, as well as how to escape and deflect common boundary-crossing behaviour.
In person sessions - I will go over all subjects listed above, but I'll be able to teach you the techniques in person. Physical skills I will teach include grip escapes, choke escapes and efficient ways to strike back. (Protip: elbows are amazing)
Training & Qualifications
I have been working in the security industry for approx 8 years, and it's hard to count the amount of times I've had to talk down aggressive or mentally ill individuals. I also have been training jiujitsu for three years, judo off and on for two years, as well as attending fitness classes with a police force-options instructor (who ran us through endless self-defense drills for warm ups). Been dealing with people trying to intimidate me for years. They don't often succeed.
Availability & Preferences
For the first part, I'm pretty flexible - skype, chat, anything. Feel free to drop me a line.
