Erhu tips (Violin Cello bowing)
80
Hello Simbi!
I ordered an erhu from China. An erhu is a 2 string, bowed instrument sometimes called the Chinese fiddle.
I would like some assistance with bowing and rosin information. This is my first bowed instrument. Please tell me about your experience with your bowed instrument. Cello, violin, and other string players can help by telling me about intonation, rosin, and bowing.
~ How much pressure do you apply when bowing?
~ What type of rosin do you like using?
~ What's the best way to clean rosin dust?
~ How long did it take you to be accurate with pitch?
~ Can you mark metal strings with sharpies?
~ How do you get beyond the sour, scratching stage?
~ What do you wish you knew when you were learning?
If you happen to play erhu, I am looking for a teacher! I already know how to read treble/bass clef, number notation (jianpu), and music theory. I teach piano and play several other instruments.
