Car Repair/Upgrades/Mechanic

35

35 per hour - Virtual OK - Posted Jun 14, 2016

I'm young but I have over 10 years of experience working on cars. I spend my spare time working on my own vehicles or trying to acquire more.

Any small jobs like brakes, oil changes, filters, spark plugs and general maintenance.

Most electrical jobs like diagnostics, short repair, stereo/subwoofer installation and ignition components. (No ECU tuning)

Some big jobs like suspension work, engine, transmission or axle replacement and general overhaul/restoration. I've done it all before so don't hesitate to ask!

I'm not a diagnostics expert, but I can usually track down strange sounds or shakes. At the very least, I should be able to narrow it down a lot in a very short time. Giving the shop a good idea of what the problem is can save you $$$ in diagnostic fees.

I'm also happy to give advice or help you as much as I can over the phone.

Pretty much any make or model under $100,000.

Price really just depends on the job. I'm happy to trade for Simbi or other services. Prices are very flexible and may be as low as good conversation while I work and a smile.

Training & Qualifications

Most of my experience is with classics, particularly imports.
('73 Porsche, 6 different VW's from '56-'96, '91 and '94 Camaros, and more)

I also know what I'm doing with modern cars.
('06 Subaru, worked at a dealership with '98-'14 Volvos, familiar with almost all Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota as well)

I also have lots of experience with bicycles and motorcycles.
(I ride an '82 Suzuki Gs750T every day as it's currently my only vehicle.)

If your car isn't on there it's probably close enough to one that is so feel free to ask! I won't take on a job I'm not sure I can handle.
(No Ferraris, Teslas, or cars worth over 100 grand. Leave those to the specialists)

I have a jack, stands, hand tools and some specialty stuff.

Also good with a MIG welder, but I don't own one.

Availability & Preferences

Random, but very flexible.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

About Colm Reynolds

I'm 20 years old. My main interests are Car Repair, Acoustic Guitar, Motorcycles, Computers and my cat Anabelle. I graduated high school at 16 with an advanced studies diploma, verified AP credit and ...the principals personal compliments. I have work experience in everything from landscaping to serving wedding parties at a Five Star resort and I plan to study Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Yes, I'm young but I've already flown an airplane, lobbied Congressmen in Washington DC, Rebuilt and Raced a '73 Porsche, preformed in a circus on the flying trapeze, built my own web-server out of an old netbook and rafted the deadliest whitewater this side of the rocky mountains. I recently bought my very own Suzuki GS750T Sport bike and took it on a road trip, in December. It rained most of the way there, the bike broke down 3 times before I got to my hotel and then it leaked fuel the whole way back. I cant wait to fix it all up and ride all over the country! When I'm not off adventuring I usually relax at home with my kitten. We snuggle frequently and you should be jealous. Currently I'm focused on converting a school bus into a rolling house so I can live where I want, move when I want, and not pay rent. The plan is to have a proper kitchen and bathroom and even satellite internet so I can rig up a flat screen and watch Netflix. Don't think about it like an over sized camper van, that's not what I'm going for. Think more along the lines of $200,000 motor home on a budget. To me, Life is all about fun, excitement and freedom, and I'm just getting started! "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" -Hunter Thompson show more
